Organising Tips to Keep Your Christmas Decorations Neat and Tidy

8th Nov 2021

The festive season is here and we can already feel the excitement in the air. Right now you are probably still busy setting up your yearly Christmas decorations and what a struggle it is! It is quite a challenge to dive through boxes of tangled Christmas lights and decorative wreaths. Struggling with these décor pieces can sometimes make Christmas feel more like work than fun.

You probably promise yourself to put away the Christmas décor properly every year but only end up stuffing everything into a dusty old box because there isn’t any other easy solution for dealing with all of these loose accessories.

This year is a good year to finally get to that promise because we are now going to share a couple of great tips to help you keep these décor items organised until the next festive season.

Start With a Sturdy Rack from Toprax

One of the main reasons decorations get so messy is usually that there isn’t a place for you to put them away. They end up stuffed in a bag crammed into the back of some closet.

If you want to keep your décor items stored properly then you need to get a quality warehouse rack from Toprax. These racks are virtually indestructible, yet affordable, and they are freestanding so you can put them just about anywhere. You can quickly assemble the rack and place it in the garage where it will offer plenty of shelving space for all of your Christmas decorations as well as many other items you might have stored away in the garage.

Stock Up On Storage Boxes

You can’t just stuff all the Christmas décor items loosely on the garage shelf because they will only end up all icky and messy. The best way to store Christmas decorations is in a plastic storage box with a lid. The plastic box will keep all of your expensive décor pieces in good condition since insects and rodents won’t be able to access these items, and a secure lid will keep dust from settling on your accessories.

It is best to invest in different-sized storage boxes. A small 31 litre storage box is perfect for all of those small loose items like Christmas orbs and stars, a larger 42 litre box is ideal for storing larger accessories like yards of string lights, and a big 71 litre box is perfect for big light fixtures or inflatable Christmas decorations.

Get a Proper Storage Bag for the Tree

Don’t just wrap your Christmas tree in a garbage bag. Get a quality resealable clear storage bag with a zipper so you can completely cover and protect your fake tree. Remember to disassemble the tree and fold all the branches flat so it will fit nice and snug in the bag. There should be plenty of space left on your warehouse rack to properly store your tree.

Stock Up on Zip-Lock Bags

Before you place your decorations in the storage bin, you should sort these items and place them in a resealable clear storage bag. A clear bag is preferable because you can see what is inside without opening it and these bags will keep everything neat and tidy.

Wrap Christmas Lights around Cardboard

Never roll Christmas lights or fairy lights around your arm for storage. They will eventually loosen and become entangled. The best way to store string lights is by rolling them around a piece of cardboard. Secure the ends with a piece of duct tape to keep them from unravelling.

With these tips and the right storage solutions from Toprax, we are quite sure that your decorations will stay in great shape throughout the year and your next festive decoration session is bound to be a lot easier and a lot more fun.
